FAQs
An 8 in. minimum clear path is required for our Performance Line.
The header and related structure must support 180 PLF with a max deflection < 1.5 in. General side-folding grille weight for design purposes is 180 pounds per linear foot times the estimated stack in feet. Remember that this product can stack at any point along the path.
No. The design and installation of the support header is by others.
The pocket should be at a minimum width of 8 in. for the Performance Line (recommend 10 in. for serviceability).
No. A side-folding grille folds horizontally with interlinked panels, is attached to the building structure, and prioritizes aesthetics. Scissor gates are open-style gates with a crisscross design and open horizontally for straightforward entryway security. They are typically not secured to the building structure and are attached to adjacent walls. Scissor gates fold into themselves, creating a stack that is not very wide but typically only has pins into the floor at the post locations.
14 in. and 24 in. standard curves for the Performance Line. Custom curves are available upon request and engineering completion (additional charge may apply).
Standard angles are 45° or 90°, but any angle from 0-90° can be created by field cutting the standard angles to fit your layout during installation.
Our side-folding grilles’ maximum height is 12 ft. There is no maximum width; however, the grille will start to get rather heavy to push or pull at extensive widths after roughly 35 ft. Header and bracing considerations become increasingly reliant at extreme widths. Contact our engineering team for further details (180 PLF, 1.5 in. deflection, point load analysis).
This is entirely dependent on the length and layout of the gate. The length and layout determine the panels and posts that drive the stack size once folded. A good rule of thumb for the Performance Line is 2 in. per liner foot of opening.
No. Our grilles are attached to a structural header with post options to lock the grilles in place.
